Born 1944, studied geology in Freiburg and Karlsruhe. 1977 Doctorate. Freelance geologist and expert for the preservation of historical buildings made of natural stone (including Sphinx von Gizeh). Since 1981 lecturer and honorary professor at the universities of Tübingen and Karlsruhe. Since 2004 consultant of ICOMOS Germany and UNESCO for the protection and preservation of the Buddhas of Bamiyan. Has been collecting Marie Ellenrieder since 1963. Published a monograph on her graphic work in 2002.
