Her field of research and teaching is in image cultures (youth-art-gender), especially in social networks of Web 2.0 (YouTube, flickr, MySpace, Facebook), material and visual cultures, media and net cultures and intersectional visual gender studies (visual construction of gender), aesthetics of current youth cultures (the Youth Culture Archive, among others, with the fashion of youth cultures at the Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main).
