Book launch in Berlin

Bücherbogen am Savignyplatz, Berlin (DE)
Book launch: 3. November 2023, 7.30 pm (free admission)

The tubular steel furniture by Marcel Breuer (1902–1981) is considered an outstanding design object of the twentieth century. Yet widely unknown is the development of the first prototype to its early series production. Breuer’s fellow compatriot Kálmán Lengyel (1900–1945), to whom the recently published publication Stahlrohrrevolution!  is dedicated, played a significant role in this. In 1927, he founded together with Breuer the company Standard Möbel, in order to organize the series production and distribution of the tubular steel furniture. As a prominent furniture designer and architect, he also founded his own furniture brand, Ka-Le-Möbel, worked as an interior designer in Paris, and constructed buildings in Berlin, Szeged, and Budapest.

In addition to Dirk Allgaier, Torsten Bröhan and Christoph Janik from the Bröhan Design Foundation Berlin as well as the publication’s graphic designer, Alessio Leonardi, will speak.

Here you will find the poster for the event.
