Exhibition: Bärbel Thoelke

Keramion, Frechen (DE), 19.5.–28.7.2019
Opening: 19.5.2019, 11:30 a.m.

The renowned exhibition centre KERAMION in Frechen (DE) shows the manifold works of the German porcelain designer Bärbel Thoelke, who was born in Stralsund and lives in Berlin. KERAMION thus honours the artist on the occasion of her 80th birthday.

With her work, the designer continues the successful tradition of modernism and functionalism from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. She remains deeply attached to the legacy of the Bauhaus, which this year celebrates the 100th anniversary of its foundation. On the one hand, she designs functional serial products for important manufactories, on the other hand, she creates impressive unique pieces in which the manufacturing process remains visible and perceptible.

A monograph of Bärbel Thoelke with a detailed text by Hans-Peter Jakobson has appeared in our programm.
