REFLEKTOR 2 presents a broad cross-section of the best student work done in 2009 in the design-related disciplines of photo-graphy, graphic design, object design and interior design as well as camera, thus revealing the high standards of teaching and research at Fachhochschule Dortmund. Light is shed on the best student projects to reveal their aims and content. Texts that deal with design, assignments related to it and its aims as well as the advance of interdisciplinary approaches within the individual disciplines have been chosen to accompany them.
A chapter entitled “Looking Back” goes into the intermural activities at Fachhochschule Dortmund; events, exhibitions and symposiums. Essays by designers and art historians provide additional insights into the force field of design theory and practice. This publication is intended to provide readers with a vivid impression of the design department and ongoing activities there.
The award-winning videos from the Film and Television course are on the enclosed Documentaries DVD. They include seven experimental documentary films as well as the 2008 ADC Newcomers and two bonus films.
Following up the great success of REFLEKTOR 1 (2008), REFLEKTOR 2 is its sequel, providing deep insights into and a comprehensive overview of the current state of research and teaching in the Design Department at Fachhochschule Dortmund.
