In der Kunst von Kari Steihaug spielt das Übersehene eine große Rolle. Beiseitegelegte Dinge, unvollendete Projekte, abgenutzte oder ausgefranste Objekte werden behutsam ins Licht gerückt. Dies zeigt sich auch in den Materialien, mit denen die Textilkünstlerin arbeitet: So finden sich in Steihaugs Werken sowohl abgetragene Wollkleider als auch unfertige Strickware. Indem sie das Unvollkommene annimmt, werden ihre Werke zu einem Gegengewicht zur galoppierenden Konsumkultur unserer Zeit und lassen uns mit neuen Augen sehen, was uns im Alltag umgibt.

In diesem Buch sind 25 Jahre ihrer Arbeit versammelt. Beiträge in Poesie und Prosa führen in Steihaugs Werk ein und zeichnen die Linien einer vielfältigen und reichen Praxis nach.
